The Way It Grows LLC (T.W.I.G) is an organic and sustainable landscape design company owned by Paula Kovecses and her husband, Laszlo Kovecses. Paula is an Accredited Organic Land Care Professional (AOLCP) as well as a horticulturist, permaculturist, designer, and consultant. T.W.I.G took over the management of the Russ Terry Greenhouse in Eastport, Maine in 2018 with the help of Pat and Rob Derry, Samra Kuseybi and Eric Alvater. “With TWIG having a full plate that includes a full-service landscaping business and development of their own permaculture farm in Pembroke Maine, we hesitated,” Kovecses said. “But took this opportunity to both feed ourselves and others, and to grow plants and produce for our clients.”
Their mission for the 2018 season was to not only feed themselves but to be able to give to residents that needed it in the Eastport area. They grow perennial crops such as blueberries, cranberries, apples, peaches, asparagus, goji berries, and blackberries as well as many annual vegetables. “We will do our best in the future to maintain the fertility in the soil, grow without products, and feed ourselves. We hope to open it up for permaculture related classes for the public as well as educating children for future permies and organic growers.” Kovecses said.
